Schengenvisa for Thai nationals

Who should obtain this visa?
Most Thai citizens who wish to travel to Europe do need to acquire a Schengen Visa prior to their departure. The most common categories that we do handle are business, education, marriage, visit and tourist visa.

What countries are members of the Schengen Area?
Presently, 25 EU countries are part of the European Schengen Area: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, plus Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. Please note: the United Kingdom and Ireland are not Schengen countries.

Who can issue such an visa?
Each member country of the Schengen Visa system but you will have to apply at the Embassy of the country where you do expect to arrive first or spend the most time at. Unfortunate at this point we are only able to assist with the German Embassy.

What are the main requirements?

  • A valid national passport
  • Evidence showing the purpose of your trip, such as hotel reservations, … as well as documents that prove your family connection, if you are intending to visit family
  • Documentary proof that shows you have sufficient financial means of support (*)
  • Proof that you have taken out a valid European Schengen travel insurance. At a minimum, this travel insurance is to provide cover for repatriation, hospital admission expenses, medical expenses and assistance in case of death.
  • A round trip travel ticket (to be presented at the time the visa is awarded).

(*) If you do have insufficient funds a family member within the European country can supply this supporting documentation and  his financials instead.

How long is this visa valid?
The most common Schengen Visa will be valid for a period of up to 3 months but if you do have a return flight s the officer will bind the visa duration to your departure date.

How long prior to departure I should apply for the visa?
The 90 days Schengen Visa does take minimum 5 labor days but you can maximum apply 3 months prior to departure.

Does it qualify to work in Germany?
Depends what category it was issued under. The Schengen Visa does have many categories. For a more accurate advice regarding this topic please do not hesitate to contact us.

Is there any useful final advice?
We would like you to apply for this visa well in advance for your departure as the standard time for processing a Schengen Visa is at least five working days provided all documentation is in order.
